Dedicated to the Memory of Matthew Guthrie.
Matthew grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and made his home with his husband, Barry Horowitz-Guthrie in Chicago and Highland Park, IL. Matthew was committed to service in his community and had high political aspirations. He was honored to have the mentoring and guidance of Alderman Robert Fioretti. I am so grateful to his trusted esteemed friend Kelly Tarrant who shared so much in advising Matt on reaching his goals. He is remembered for his amazing smile and dedication to sharing with those who were less blessed than he was.

Barry,
I miss Matt's infectious smile. It always made me happy, especially on a bad day. This is the time of year I miss him most. He and I would do some of the craziest things to keep you from finding gifts. Matt will always have a special place in my heart.

I miss you and there is nothing I can do to have you back. My heart aches and the tears fall because you're not here. Every day I think about you and it hurts me knowing there is never going to be another moment to hug you, to see you with your brothers or hear you laugh ever again. Son, I miss you so much!
